Macadamias, we salute you!

I had the pleasure of growing up in one of the most (yes, I’m bias) beautiful tropical paradises in the world – Queensland, Australia. Australia is the largest grower of macadamias worldwide and produced 46,000 metric tonnes in 2019. There’s even an Australian Macadamia Society! It’s a good old homegrown Australian business, so it seemed fitting to create a product that showcased this amazing nut in all its glory.

Macadamia trees bear fruit for up to 100 years, providing a long term and sustainable food source. Fully grown Macadamia trees tower magnificently across the orchard providing shade for wildlife and shaded family picnics − and its always hot where macadamias grow.

Macadamias contain the highest levels of healthy monounsaturated fats, lower lectin levels and are a rare and important source of Omega 7 palmitoleic acid.  

  1. High in fat: That’s how we like it! Fat as fuel and goodbye to sugar crashes.
  2. Supports a healthy heart: monounsaturated fats lower LDL cholesterol, reduces inflammation
  3. Fights metabolic syndrome: protects against type 2 diabetes

Try this Macadamia Bread recipe:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

1.5 tsp Baking soda

2 tbsp Lemon juice

1 cup macadamia’s

5 eggs

1 cup of coconut butter

Pinch of salt

 

Blend all ingredients in a food processor into a smooth batter – takes about a minute. Transfer mixture into a lined bread pan and bake for approx. 30min or until skewer stick comes out clean when poked in the middle. That’s it so easy and absolutely delicious!
